Raise Your Hand If You Can Hear Me

December 17th, 2007

My stress level suddenly decreased drastically. Why?

  • I’ve finished migrating to the new server. That took way too long.
  • I’ve rewritten Today’s Reason to Drink to implement caching and static XML pages.
  • I’ve upgraded to a 512slice, which seems to be handling the load.
  • The server finally seems to be stable and secure. (That is not a dare!)

Next steps:

  • Finish editing and uploading pictures. I still have about 1000 from Europe along with hundreds of assorted other pictures.
  • Implement a few minor things like a postfix relay, webalizer statistics, caching for the gallery, etc.
  • Make some money to pay for this server.
  • Keep on posting on my other blogs!

If you happen to know someone who works for a booze company (or really any company) who might want to sponsor the Today’s Reason to Drink gadget, then please please please let me know. This thing eats up bandwidth and server resources like nothing else. It currently gets about 2 million page views per day, so this is by no means a bad marketing opportunity!

I can’t wait to cancel my old shared web hosting! I’ll wait a few days, though, to ensure that everyone’s DNS caches are up to date, though.
