When I moved to the new server, I didn’t quite move everything. Now, I’ve uploaded anything that might be of some interest to someone out there. It’s all quite outdated, but it’s there in case anyone wants to take a look (and people actually do from time to time):

My stress level suddenly decreased drastically. Why?
- I’ve finished migrating to the new server. That took way too long.
- I’ve rewritten Today’s Reason to Drink to implement caching and static XML pages.
- I’ve upgraded to a 512slice, which seems to be handling the load.
- The server finally seems to be stable and secure. (That is not a dare!)
Next steps:
- Finish editing and uploading pictures. I still have about 1000 from Europe along with hundreds of assorted other pictures.
- Implement a few minor things like a postfix relay, webalizer statistics, caching for the gallery, etc.
- Make some money to pay for this server.
- Keep on posting on my other blogs!
If you happen to know someone who works for a booze company (or really any company) who might want to sponsor the Today’s Reason to Drink gadget, then please please please let me know. This thing eats up bandwidth and server resources like nothing else. It currently gets about 2 million page views per day, so this is by no means a bad marketing opportunity!
I can’t wait to cancel my old shared web hosting! I’ll wait a few days, though, to ensure that everyone’s DNS caches are up to date, though.

Screw you, soon-to-be former web host. I asked them to chmod some files. Instead, they chown’d them, so now gallery is broken. Argh! At least I can download all of them now. However, that means that my photo gallery may be unavailable for the next couple days while I move everything to the new server and wait for DNS to update (and troubleshoot the fubared install resulting from their mistake). If possible, I’m never dealing with shared web hosting again, particularly that company. It’s just not worth it to me.

I’ve been busy adding more and more stuff. I’ve uploaded two more galleries, and it looks like I’ve mostly smoothed out everything related to this blog. One of these days, I’ll tweak the theme for the photo galleries, too.
I also restarted the HTMLnut blog. There, I focus on web development and entrepreneurship. I’ve owned that domain for ages and never really got around to doing anything useful with it. Can you believe I actually bought that one before this one? What was I thinking?

My photo gallery is finally up and running. Obviously, I’m still working on it, though there are some pictures up now, including pictures from the Franklin Park Zoo, Father’s Office, and the San Diego Zoo. There are lots more pictures to come!

I decided to try switching over to WordPress. After all, the best programmer is a lazy programmer, and I was sick of writing new features that probably already existed in WordPress. I’m also in the process of installing Gallery and will be uploading many photos in the near future. Perhaps I’ll install some sort of template engine next, too, though I plan on concentrating my efforts on several other sites I run and plan to run. I’ll post more details here shortly! Anyway, I apologize if you came here looking for something in particular and have discovered that it’s missing. I’ll import everything shortly.
