MLK Weekend

Despite being marred by illness, this has been a very productive and satisfying weekend. I nearly completed a major freelance project (most of it is up to the client now), bottled and brewed beer, sold more junk on eBay, ate more turkey, and did a myriad of other things. I haven’t even been outside in two days, and the only time outside on Saturday was going to the grocery store in the evening. Yes, it’s kind of pathetic. Then again, the weather stinks, so who really wants to go outside anyway?

As far as beer goes, yesterday, I bottled the pilsner I made a few weeks ago. That should be ready for consumption in a couple weeks. Then, today, I brewed an oatmeal stout. If my beer consumption can increase, then that will be ready for drinking within three weeks. However, I doubt I’m going to have enough empty bottles by then. Wei-ying described the wort as “stinky” (and to think she actually bought this particular mix for me). I have some creative ideas for experimental brewing in the future, which will involve going to Asian grocery stores and picking out rather un-Western ingredients to throw in the keg.

I’m also thinking about going on a Ski Market trip to Sunapee on Saturday or Stowe on Sunday. Who’s with me? It’s only $65 for the lift ticket and bus. Would it be excessive to go on both trips? I wonder if I’d have enough energy or time. BSSC (which is $5 less) goes to Jay Peak on Saturday and Sunday River on Sunday, but I think the Ski Market trips and locations are better.
